 COASTAL TRIP TO POINT REYES

 September 10-12, 2010

McClure's Beach

Jim and I have planned a two night trip to Point Reyes National Seashore on Sept. 10th & 11th. We will leave before the heat of the day between 7:30 & 8:00 Friday morning from Eppies in West Sac. If you want breakfast arrive early enough so we can leave on time. We will be on HW 80 to Davis, then through Winters, pass Lake Berryessa, Napa, Nicasio, and on to Point Reyes. There are two places to stay; one is the Olema Inn with eight rooms in Olema which is already booked. I had that many couples sign up at the meeting. The Tomales Bay Resort is in Inverness right on Tomales Bay which is about 10 minutes from the Olema Inn. Jim and I stayed there when we mapped out the trip. The rooms are $120 to $155 per night. The room we were in was small, but clean and the bed was comfortable, no TV, no frills; just a room with a bath room. Most of the places to stay are $250 and up. If you would like to reserve a room here I need to know very soon because they fill up quickly so call Lindsay at 916 645-5475 or email swi@zetabb.com or you can call the Tomales Bay Resort at 800 339-9398 and make your own reservations.

The points of interest we will be driving to are: a short hike to McClure's Beach after driving through the Tule Elk Reserve, where it is more than likely we will see a bunch of Elk; Jim and I did. We will also visit the Point Reyes Light House, drive up to Tony's Oyster Shack for lunch, drive up to Bodega Bay, eat, sleep, and be merry. All of the roads we traveled were picturesque and fun. I will have a complete itinerary for everyone later on.
